New House, New Daycare

Now that we are living in south Austin, it made sense to find a daycare that was closer to the house.  Since the end of May, Anne has been going to Leaps and Bounds daycare in central Austin.  It was near our old house and a daycare that was not only able to accommodate our need of a flexible schedule, but they also had great teachers that Matt and I had enjoyed working with.

After crying the first day I dropped Anne off, her teacher, Ms. Kathy, called to let me know how she was doing just to reassure me that everything would be fine.  They also made Matt a mold of Anne's feet for Father's Day, which really sealed the deal for us.

Sadly, the location was no longer convenient and with the two of us traveling frequently, it was time for us to find another daycare.  I searched for weeks to find something that would be perfect for Anne and Mrs. Gladys finally found it.  Her church offers a Mother's Day Out program on Tuesday and Thursdays.  Most programs like this don't provide care for infants, so it was nice to find one that did and more importantly in a place that we could trust.

So last Wednesday, we said goodbye to Leaps and Bounds, but before doing so, Anne and I picked up a few gifts to thank each of her teachers for taking such great care of her over the past few months.  I also need to add that Anne was voted best dressed in the infant room.  When I picked Anne up that afternoon, her teacher's and friends had made her a sweet goodbye sign.  I teared up when I saw it and each of the teachers hugged Anne and me as we left.  We hope to see a couple of her teachers soon since they offered to babysit for us in the future.

Here's the sign they made Anne.  They put the footprints of each child and their hand prints, along with sweet notes to her.

On Tuesday, Anne started her new daycare program at Woodlawn Baptist Church. She will go there every Tuesday and Thursday and spend the rest of the week with Mrs. Gladys.  Now that I no longer have Friday's off, they'll have even more time together.

We enjoyed meeting Anne's new teachers, all of which Mrs. Gladys has known for years.  This definitely helped alleviate any fears of leaving her that day.  Tuesday was pretty rough since Anne was fussy most of the time, which we learned later that day was from an ear infection.  Thursday was much better and now that we are in our new house and daycare, we look forward to a regular routine moving forward.
